There were rumors on ESPN that Daunte Culpepper, who was released by the Raiders and is his own agent, was in contact with the Lions and asked for a shot to join the team. It was being speculated that the Lions would decline because they like the rapport that Kitna has with the team. What do you all think? I know Kitna has heart and isnt horrible but Culpepper has so much more tallent.

fair point. but do the lions need more heart or some real talent. i would still question culpepper's leadership. i guess that goes with heart. why cant we get a QB who will lead the team and have the talent too?

I'm going to say no to this one. THe last thing the Lions need is another retread QB. While I do not think Kitna is the greatest QB out there, he has got a really good attitude and does have a decent amount of talent.
For once I would like to see the Lions actually develope a young QB, but that would probably require keeping the same Offensive coordinator more than 2 years in a row.

I would not want Farve for the same kind of reason I would not want Culpepper. It never seems to work when a QB who has had success forever with one team moves to another. At best it works for maybe 1 year and then the QB falls apart, like Mcnair in Baltimore or even Joe Montana in KC. Farve is a great QB, but he is just trying to hang on at this point. At his age you cannot expect him to be as successful as he was last year.
I would be willing to bet that no matter where Farve goes he is not going to be as good as he has been the past couple of seasons.
Back to the Lions, if I thought they were a good QB away from being a great team, they would have to consider it, but at this point it looks like they need more than a QB (hopefully I am wrong here).

yeah. i agree with both of you. that's why i had to qualify my statement earlier. I know this was all hypothetical. So what is the Lion's biggest need right now? An O-line?
