Anyone else watch the opening ceremony? I thought it was really well done... and I liked the way they lit the torch better than the Athens one.

I watched it last night, since we got 12 hours later than everyone else. I thought the drums and the fireworks footsteps leading to the stadium were really cool. That guy running around stadium to light the torch was pretty awesome too. I stilll think the guy shooting the arrow to light the torch in Barcelona is my favorite, but this was a close second.

yes...I didnt see it all, but it was insanely big. big as china. saying "ive been to china" is like saying "i've been to earth".
the amount of peple involved was staggering, the technoogy was impressive, and I loved those drums. they reminded me of japanese koto drums...which are awesome. 'ell even the temporary buildngs were impressive in size. china "pulled out all the stops", as it were.
the protesters with their free tibet signs were a bit of a hassle for china, as all the worlds eyes were on them , so they couldn't just lock them away without trial, exile them, or execute them.....
i think im going to have to get a copy of the openenig and closing ceremony "100% totally legally"....
