Hey ... just as I type up the last post ... I look and see that the Wings have finally won another game!
4-0 against the Avalanche ... great team to break a losing streak against.
However ... Lidstrom got pretty banged up on a hit in the 1st period.
He is going to have his knee examined on Tuesday to see if it's any worse than a sprain ... but even then he'll probably be out for a couple of weeks.
This is not good for the Wings blue-line who are already short Rafalski and Kronwall! Looks like the Wings are going to have to depend on the young guys to help out in front of the goaltenders or try and get some veteran help at the deadline ... Rob Blake anyone?

I will say that I watched some of this game and Ozzy looked good. Storeing 18 shots on net. I saw that the Avs only put 2 shots on him in the second. On a different note, I will say that Howard looked really good in the game Sunday against the Stars. Unfortunatly, Turco was just a bit better. It's a shame that a goalie can play that well and still lose. Howard stopped 21 of 22 shots on net, and lost. That is heartbreaking. but it just means that we have many more good things to look forward to from him.

The Colorado game last night was one of the most fun hockey games I have seen in a long time. It was a lot like the Wings/Aves games of old. The wings came out strong and really took it to the Aves. I still think they need to tweak their game a bit to win in the playoffs but this was a very encouraging game coming off a 6 game skid.
The hit on Lids was not really a dirty hit (it may have been a bit unnecessary but if the roles were reversed we would have loved it). Lids was just very uncharacteristically out of position and took a good hard lick in an awkward way. Hopefully he only misses about a week or so, this team is nothing without Lids. My love for Aaron Downey grew by huge margins in this game as well. I really hope he makes the playoff roster, they need a guy like him. He reminds me of Mac minus a little bit of the scoring. One thing is sure, this guy is tough as nails and is not afraid of anyone. It was just a great game and hopefully this rekindles the old rivalry that so many of us loved in the late 90s (I really wanted Babcock to take a swing at Granado and I thought he actually might for a second there).
FIRE MILLEN -Dustin
