just in time as I finally got caught up on all my podcasts from over the holidays. I was going to be hurting for stuff to listen to this week.

So I listened to this over on the ride in and while doing my normal morning stuff at work.
Mike, sorry to hear about your Dad, I can’t imagine how tough that must be. You sound in good spirits on the show, so hang in there.
When Derek mentioned his “movie date” with the wife, it reminded me of what we try to do every once and while, but so far only once. She ended up with a whole bunch of free movie passes from work so we use them to go see a two movies back to back in the theater. Since all we end up paying for is monopoly movie theater popcorn, it ends up being a pretty cheap date. Last time we saw Cloverfield and then went straight to 27 Dresses. It was kind of a surreal experience. Next weekend it is looking like we are going to see Taken and then that I’m not that into you movie. Liam Neison destroying people should get me through the chick flic.
I am interested in seeing Coraline as well. I enjoyed the book and the trailer looks good. I remember the book being pretty creepy for a kids book. I might try taking the boys (the two kids that Aimee takes care of) to go see it. Neil Gaiman is pretty cool. Around the time American Gods came out, I got the chance to see him with Harlan Ellison and Peter David. That was some really good stuff, plus he signed all my books. Stardust was a great movie, that doesn’t get near the attention it deserves.
Chad, I think you just need to except that Zohan just really wasn’t that good.
Derek, how far long are you with Battlestar? I’m curious to see where you are at, since there are a couple of slower patches, usually right before it gets crazy good.
Van Helsing is pretty cool. I only ever watch one Gundam series that was maybe 6 or 7 episodes and remember being pretty interesting. After I saw that I took a look and saw they that there are a bunch of different Gundam series and it seemed like too much to get into at the time. And the best part of Toonami back in the day were the reruns of Voltron and Thundercats.
As I said in the Heroes thread, I wasn’t totally sold on the new Heroes, but I am willing to give it some time to try to straighten itself out. It is now below 24 on the Monday night pecking order.
Lost is all sorts of awesome. I won’t go in to it to much here since there is a Lost thread already. I wasn’t as shocked about Jin as I was about the reveal about Widmore. And I do not think Jin is stuck in the past. I think he is jumping in to time with the rest of the people on the island. I think Jin was floating around close enough to the island when it jumped out of time. Lost has been really good since the 2nd half of season two. The first season was good, but the first half of the second season was really hit or miss.

Just finished listening to the show at work while I made a million bajillion copies (literally).
First thing in my head, No Chad, Japanese boys are still just as gay in high school as they are in elementary or middle school. Instead of grabbing each other's penises they instead sit on each other's laps and grind. When I see students doing that in their break time or in the hall I'm just like "Wow, you guys are pretty brave, declaring your homo-dachi (gay friendship) for all to see." Then they get confused and realize what I am saying and stop touching each other... or about 1/3 of them do. The other 2/3 say "We're just very good, tired friends." (tired being when they are lying in a pile in the hall).
Now, I have a declaration of war, especially against Derek. The reasons you guys bitched about Heroes all through the first half of this season were mostly "Time travel is undefined and stupid and makes everything ridiculous." and "No one ever dies." Now when you talk about Lost all you can talk about is time loop crap that makes Eric a conspiracy theory genius and how surprised you are when people you thought were dead come back to life/didn't really die.
With that said, you can take your logic and suck it.

You have some good stuff in store for you with Battlestar. It is really good from there on in. I think Tigh is pretty much my favorite character. He pretty much comes into his own in the 3rd season. Also, make sure you watch the Razor after you watch season 3. EVen though it takes place around about where you are now, there is some stuff that will spoil season 3.

Dude, I thought Jin was dead, for real.
And upon my 3rd viewing of Zohan, it's better than most things out there.
By the way, that Gears experience we hinted at at the end of the show turned out to be epic as hell. I'm sure next week's rundown on that one is gonna make some people sidepipe. Seriously Brando...you can't take that word, that's MY word.
So with that being said, as I'm sure you all can tell, I was all about the listener email and "This Week, In Real Life" segments (I made the name up just now). Sure there are some things that I'm kinda partial to (Dissidia talk, Gears and RE5 logic arguments), but I had a great time on the show because I think this is what it's all about. When 4 or 5 of us are on the show, dare I say...we're on it.
If it weren't for the fact that I can take my PSP everywhere with me, I'd already have my iPod touch jailbroken and tons of shit on it. This is addicting though...like Lost Odyssey, only portable.
And as a final note, I'd like to add that I've become a Japanese teacher for two Americans who live around me starting from scratch. It's going to be an adventure, but I've got so many ideas in my head I almost don't know where to start. I know its NOT videogame related, but you'll hear about it on the show I imagine.

I do not mind the time travel in Heroes or LOST. I like seeing alternate futures. Stories like that gave you evil goateed Spock and the Brigadier with a scar and an eye patch (Doctor Who).
So long as we get to see how the Black Rock got on the island before the time travel thing wraps up that will be cool.
I also think LOST has done a pretty good jobs giving us answers so far this season. There have been a couple good reveals each week so far.

What is amazing is how bad it is.

Sandler is a genius. Just like Derek's new avatar(s).
I watched it with some non-believers, and they loved it. Which gives them hope for America's Funniest Home Videos. I mean, the word "Funniest" is in the title, how can you hate it?

I should make an announcement...
AFV isn't that funny. Animals are funnier.

I should make an announcement... AFV isn't that funny. Animals are funnier. You sound like a total idiot right now! You're coming off as a complete retard! AFV is GREAT. At least since Tom took over the reigns. BTW ... I don't really think you're dumb or a retard ... I was just doing a Will Farrell run there. Super BTW ... AVF still rules.

Nope.... AFV is mostly just videos of people getting hurt. That's not funny. The regular stupid stuff is ok, or stuff when people get surprised, but people flipping off a swing to smack their head into a fence isn't funny.
Animal funny videos are better.
