so I just got bad from Tony Esposito night here in Chicago, where the Blackhawks smoked the Capitals. I had been looking forward to seeing Ovechkin live, so I was pretty excited about the game before they turned it into Tony Esposito night. Anyway, I am watching AO, and he absolutely does not play defense at all. I mean he didn't even attempt too. He hardly crossed his own blue line and when he did it was just for a brief moment. don't get me wrong, when he was in the Offensive zone, he came to play hard, hitting everything that moved trying to get at the puck. Too bad he couldn't hit anyone outside the offensive zone. Now I know why they do not play him on the PK, if they did it would be like they were down 5 on 3.
I guess I am just spoiled with guys like Zetterberg and Dats who are gifted offensive player but play equally hard in the defensive zone as well.
And, I had a chance to go to the Hull/Mikita night in Chicago a couple of weeks ago too. I really like these types of ceremonies. If the Wings ever decide to do one again, I might have to think about making the trip over to catch the game.
