Ok, so I watched as the Lions made a trade the 15th pick to the KC Chiefs for the 17th pick, and swapped 3rd rounders, they made the biggest bonehead draft pick since drafting Mike Williams. They took a Tackle that no on has ever heard of. I mean Jeff Otah and Sam Baker would have been better choices for the first pick there. When they had the 15th pick, I was almost certian that they would do exactly what the Chiefs did and that was take Branden Albert, but NOOOOOOOO, you gotta trade it and get Gosder Cherilus. Now, he may turn out to be the best tackle the Lions have ever had, but as of right now and given his past of being a very upright blocker, he looks like a bad pick....at least it wasn't a WR.
I do however think that the Lions got a solid pick at number 1 of round 3 (64th overall) in Kevin Smith. He is said to be a very "Sanders'esq" runner. He was the leading rusher in the NCAA in 2007, but being from Central Florida he did not get much props. He was a steal there though. I thought for sure that he was a solid mid 2nd rounder. I was thinking like Philly or Arizona, or even as high as San Fran with the 8th pick in round 2. So I applaud the Lions for that pick. Still overall they did address some needs, but the round 1 bonehead move still ticks me off, so i give them a D. Thoughts?

I think a D might be a little harsh. I think I would give them a C. I did not watch too much of the draft, so most of what I know I read after the fact. It seems like they got some guys to fill needs on the D-Line, linebacker, and Offensive line. I agree that I think that Kevin Smith guy is a solid pick up and hopefully will be pretty good. The one thing I like about the draft is that most of the guys we drafted seem to have all worked really hard to be at the top of their game and have that same kind of attitude. I think that is a good change since in years past we have been drafting all these guys that have not shown that kind of attitude. It is because of this I am willing to cut them a little bit of slack on Cherilus. How many times have the Lions taken the guy that they were supposes to take and how many times has that blown up in their faces even though everyone loved the pick?
The other pick I really liked was that Linebaker from Colorado. I think he is going to be solid.
I do not know enough about any of these guys to say whether or not they will save the team, but I think they will be forthe most part pretty solid players. And if Smith is as good as they are making him out to be, it is not going to matter how bad the other picks were.

I would whole-heartedly agree with you. The only reason that i dropped them a grade (I would have given a C normally) is the fact that Matt Millen is still the GM and I really don't think he is a good GM. But that is just my opinion.
FIRE MILLEN!!!
I do really think Smith could be a stunning pickup.
