headshotradio.blogspot.com/2008/11/chad-and-chase-on-japanese-tv-with-subs.htmlThis thing took way too much time. I haven't subbed anything in almost a year, and it reminds me just how nice it is to have SOMEONE ELSE time the subs for you. Not only that, but I had to painstakingly position them as well. No wonder Chase was griping about it when he first started. For the record though, not that hard. Just time consuming. Enjoy folks. It's finally up.

It's not hate man. It's just seeing things from the outside looking in. Chase and I are probably the only two on the boards here who can say we've had the chance to do such a thing.
After not living in America and seeing what happens, things just seem a little more messed up.
I really want Eric to see this, with a hidden camera to catch his reactions. Guaranteed TV viewship right there, just add TV program.

Good job with the subs Chad. You got the meaning in there without going for too literal of a translation, which is what I always try to do and it screws me up.
Responding to Derek, yeah we bitch about Japanese stuff all the time, but that is because wherever we go now we have the perspective of the outside looking in. We won't be able to go anywhere and not complain, because there is no perfect place.
Modern Japan is NOT an American Invention. 60 years ago we went in, cut out the brain washing propaganda and said "act like normal f*ckers, ye' hear?" Everything after that has been the same thing Japan has always done: stolen other countries' ideas and adapt them to be Japanese.
As for Freedom and Democracy... Japan isn't as democratic as you might think. Elections happen for little annoying posts all the time here, and the only method of advertisement is big vans with big-ass speakers and a whiny bitch with a microphone telling you to vote for her (I HATE those damned things!) driving around all day long annoying people. Most people see elections as annoyances, and even the people they elect don't do much that is important, just screw up the school systems even more. As far as I can tell, you vote for the people who vote for the people who vote for the people who vote for the people who are in charge... it's even more obscure than the US. There isn't any talk about "Measure 39" or whatever at election time, it's all about the whiny guy who screams at you until you vote for him. In a way, it's far more direct advertisement than the mass media overload in the US.
And Japan is making steps... the current annoying old guy (aka Prime Minister) is the first Christian of any sort in the position. Some day they might even elect someone who is 1/16th Korean or something.
Can't wait to see Eric's response.

I dont even know if I can dignify the pure ignorance about one's home country that I saw on that show by giving a rebuttal ... more to follow in the next day or so

Can't wait to see Eric's response. yah..but america isnt really as democratic as most people think either....the 2 party system is just a playout power game the old platonic dialog of "create a problem" then "offer to solve it". both parties want to take away personal rights. one side wants your guns, the other side wants a bigger government ... i think we can see what that could lead to eventually. so many people feel like their "choosing the least of two evils" every election....its kinda like saying "I'm voting for satan, 'cuz i don't trust lucifer". they act like they disagree, but in reality they go to the same country clubs and secret society meetings. and don't even get me started on the lie about "anyone can be president"...it takes alot of money which only 9 rich bloodlined familys have, and all sorts of connections that if I go into I'd sound like a "crazy conspiracy theorist"....which is exactly what they want. the truth to be so weird that no one would believe it. also Derek..."they hate america even more than I do"...hilarious. there that should be enough kindling to get the fire really cooking. *grin*

I checked the claims... barack is W's 9th cousin. which isn't suprising when you understand how dirty the gov't buisness is.
and I won't even go into who funded the man....
but I did vote for him anyway.

oh, if i sounded like a conspiracy theorist before, wait for this one......
many of the "average people" who donated were encouraged by whataver group they belonged to leaders. their preachers, their labor unions,etc---- all run by the illuminati.
*million dollar conspiracy buzz word* but seriously ....the council on foreign relations, all the handpicked preasidents, the nsa, the cia, freemasons, bilderbergs, trilatteral commision, nafta, the united nations, all these things are working toward one goal: a new world order. most people are too busy try to make a dollar to look at the back of one. go ahead...get one out and look at the back, then tell me theres nothing strange going on conspiracy wise....since that seal was put there in 1933, by a freemason preasident (33 degree is the "highest" admited degree in freemasonry ). look into who designed it, where the statue of liberty came from, and why we havent flown the civil flag of the usa in over 90 years . (yes, we have a peacetime flag ...it has vertical stripes and the field is white with blue stars.)
as i said before, the truth is so strange that it sounds crazy....and thats the way they want it.
....and not the "they" that can track quaker oats in japan.....lol.
tho i agree with you on one thing. there does need to be a 3rd pary from the center, because the far left and far right are very simialr once they get extreme enough..... no mater if its a socialist dictater or a facist, they always build the same type of monuments, large, imposing, ugly, and built on the free labor of the oppresed...
...and just for the record, and the webcrawler bots that look for those terms..... I'm not against the notion of a new world order. if there are no more borders, there will be no invisable lines to fight over.

No no no... the simplest answer is always the right one: God Chooses the President. Sometimes he even helps the Prez pick out his wardrobe.
Also, in ALL fairness, parts of that TV program are fairly out of context when you consider we recorded for about 2 hours and talked about a lot more stuff, when all put together makes us sound less like uneducated random foreigners and more like critical analysts.

See, that's why I was saying when it aired that I was just glad it didn't make us look stupid.
I like the way it turned out, and I'm glad you guys can understand what's going on now.

So I finally watched this with the subtitles and it was interesting. It could have been the subtitles or just the stuff they choose to show, but it seemed to me that a lot of what was shown didn't actually have anything to do with the current situation. It almost makes me think that the coverage we get of Japan (which is hardly any) might be on par with what they get of us.
I agree with the Rev that basically the two parties we have now are basically the same. America is headed in the same direction with whoever is in charge because they basically agree on all but a few things. There is a glaring need for a legitimate third party to get us out of the rut of the same old ideas. I was hoping that with that $700 billion bail out being so unpopular would have helped that cause out.
Derek is partially right about Hillary. She did have the Democratic party machine behind her in the beginning, but the party was never really fully behind her, because they were afraid that with all the negatives she had built up over the years she would never be able to win a general election. That is why when it looked like Obama was a legitimate candidate people started leaving her in droves. And to say that Obama isn't like the rest the of the hacks out there is shortsighted as well. I know for a fact he started running for President as soon as he was elected. A buddy of mine does a look of campaign work for the Dems in Arkansas and he had Obama people contacting him as early as 2005. Obama is like Bush in 2000, in that they thought he had appeal and started grooming him to be a legitimate candidate after that speech he gave at the Democratic National convention. Once people thought he could win they started backing him more openly. Obama was always one of the candidates the machine wanted up there. Let's not forget this guy was part of the Chicago political machine, and as someone who lives (around) there, I can tell you they are all corrupt, especially those in and around Cook county. I am not saying McCain would have been any better, because he would not have been. The big difference between Obama and McCain is that Obama is going to make everyone feel better about themselves when the economy is burning down around them.
I would agree that Japan is probably a better place to be right now. While they are in a recession, they are not saddled with all the debt we are, they actually have savings, and they actually produce and things, which means they are better suited to recover faster than America is. America's economy is about 75% comsumption based, so once we stop spending the economy tanks. And when we stop spending, countries will find other places to sell their goods and those other countries will probably be better off. That is why the government is giving money to banks and credit card companies so that people continue to spend, which puts people in more debt, and makes the problem worse. You also have to remember that it is all bad US debt that caused this mess in the first place. Other countries will take the one time hit and move on, America is not so lucky in that regard.

Well, I signed on, all ready to go with a nice, long response about the tv show and how 99% of it was complete BS, but then two things came up:
1.) The realization that the show only aired 5 mins of a 1 hour interview made me feel a little better. Maybe it is a good feeling based in nievity, but i would hope that people would not be that short-sighted about the interworkings of their own country. One comment on it though ... "we have WMDs and that makes us arrogent and have no bias to tell other people what to do" ... last time I checked most of the people in the ENTIRE WORLD tell the same people we do to not collect WMDS (namely the crazies like the religious fundamentalists that make up most of the Mid East). People would also be stupid to think that if we didnt have them that no one else would. If we dont, then we have no way to legitmately defend ourselves .. which is what worked in the Cold War (MAD). Govts in countries like China mainly respect us due to our military nothing else.
Lets also not forget that we by far give the most aid to countries in need anround the world.
2.) The main thing that hijacked my thinking has been the posts by Rev. Thim. I mean I have to agree with Derek (i know it doesnt appear to happen often). The rants that I read make we want to scream to high heaven just like he did. Although this country is not perfect, it is by no means run by some secret group of people. People can rise up from anywhere and even I'll admit that Obama is an example of that.
To people that say that he was groomed and pushed into it. Well, of course he was! The reality of the world is that you have to prepare and get ready to run for president if you legitmately want to run. It is just like if oyu want to be a doctor, you want one who has gone through years of study and hard work, rather then some one who never went to college, read a few medical books, stayed at a Holiday Inn Express, and then decided to perform major sugery. There are many aspects of experience, economic policy, foreign policy, and yes political creedence that you have to prepare for MANY years in advance. People with conspiracy theories give reality too much credit. Reality is no where near that interesting to have all of those conspiracies going on, or else we'd be seeing UFOs on a daily basis and stalked by BigFoot.
And btw, I would much rather get my ideals from the Constitution than YouTube ...
